This red-and-white broadcast tower rises from the hilltop where the world's first great exhibition hall once stood — before it burned in 1936.

Built in 1956 to replace the original Alexandra Palace transmitter, it broadcasts to over 12 million Londoners. At 219m it's one of the tallest structures in London. The original Crystal Palace, moved here from Hyde Park, was destroyed by fire in 1936.
