This brutalist tower's mushroom-like top half — wider than its base — makes it one of the most recognizable and controversial buildings in Italian postwar architecture.

Designed by BBPR studio, the overhanging upper floors were inspired by medieval Lombard castle towers. The building was widely criticized when built but is now a protected landmark and considered a masterpiece of neo-brutalism. Recently renovated and reopened with luxury residences.
