Often confused with its plainer neighbour upstream, this Victorian bridge with twin Gothic towers is one of the most photographed structures in the world.

Tower Bridge took 8 years to build (1886-1894) and was designed to allow tall ships to pass through. The bascules still open around 800 times a year. The high-level walkways, originally built so people could cross while the bridge was open, now feature glass floors.
