Deep in the Ethiopian highlands, this royal fortress complex earned the nickname "Africa's Camelot" for its castle-like towers and banquet halls.

Emperor Fasilides built the compound as a permanent capital, blending Ethiopian, Portuguese, and Indian architectural styles. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the few medieval castle complexes in sub-Saharan Africa.
