If built, this would have been the tallest structure ever conceived — nearly one and a half kilometres tall, dwarfing everything on Earth.

Proposed by Nakheel Properties in 2008 at over 1km tall, later redesigned to 1,400m. The 2008 financial crisis permanently shelved the project. It would have been roughly 4x the height of the Empire State Building.
