Tucked among the colorful wooden warehouses of a historic wharf, this stone tower served as a royal residence and fortress on Norway's western coast.

The tower is named after Erik Rosenkrantz, the governor who expanded it in the 1560s. Its foundations date back to the 1270s, making it one of Bergen's oldest stone structures.
